Day 21 - Valdovino
Trying hard to be sensible so one more day of full rest. Ice every four hours and leg in the air. Shuffling about in between I have a good tidy up but mostly read, crochet, listen to podcasts and watch a downloaded movie on the iPad. It’s not as warm and sunny as yesterday but I can sit outside most of the time looking at the sea and there are worse places to be laid up.
Graham took the opportunity to get some steps in, walking to the nearest lighthouse about 8km away, but 4km along the beach with a bit of a paddle across the edge of the lagoon, if you time it right.
He heads out at low tide and is at the lighthouse in about an hour. It’s an unusual shape , built in the 90s and looks a bit like a modernist block of flats. There’s also a ‘pillbox’ type structure and some sort of shelter, which need some further research!
There are some great views of the coast continuing west, a good taste of things to come!
The walk back down is longer as it follows the path around the lagoon and across the dunes. There’s a pond filled with loudly croaking frogs at one point and a short stretch of road to walk along, but it’s otherwise peaceful, traffic-free and very pleasant.
A very chilled evening, new English neighbours to meet briefly and a drink with dinner as some drizzle starts. We’ve done a little research and we are going to head for the Marina at A Coruna to have a go at a town trip, not sure the rest has been long enough but ‘long enough’ is somewhat impractical when there’s so much to see, so we’ll see what difference we’ve made before we make any decisions about hometime….
Cumulative mileage: 927 - No change!
Overnight: Camping a Lagoa still!
Spending: Campsite €21
